The article aims to analyze the formation of students' sociolinguistic competence, their ability to maintain a varied discourse, and their use of special styles of speech in different social environments and communication situations. An important area for research is the analysis of modern interactive and digital technologies used in educational institutions to improve the professional abilities of students. The article focuses on the theoretical aspects of sociolinguistic competence, sources of its origin, principles of formation, and aspects of its implementation in professional activity. The key principles of its development are outlined and the means that can be used to improve it are presented. The author suggests appropriate means for the formation of sociolinguistic competence in the context of the spread of actualization of the use of a foreign language both in the professional environment and in everyday life, which is due to globalization. The obtained results of the study can be used in the practice of educational institutions to improve the quality of sociolinguistic competence formation. В статті визначаються поняття «термін сфери косметології», «термінологія сфери косметології», з’ясовуються екстралінгвальні фактори, що зумовили її породження та розвиток. Ключова увага приділяється в статті аналізу тематичних і метафоричних груп англомовних термінів вказаної сфери. Термін сфери косметології є лексичним засобом позначення її професійного поняття, а її термінологія є сукупністю подібних одиниць, що використовуються в спеціальній науковій або науково-популярній літературі, а також у професійному спілкуванні її фахівців. Англомовна термінологія сфери косметології є тематично та семантично різнорідною. Це зумовлено розгалуженістю самої сфери, що виявляється в існуванні різних напрямів кос- метології, категоріально-поняттєва диференціація яких проектується на її термінологію в англійській мові. Розвиток сфери та її термінології зумовлений також науково-технічним прогресом людства, спеціалізацією його фахових знань. Тематична класифікація дозволяє розподілити терміни за типом категоріальних понять, засобами яких вони слугують у відповідній сфері. Ключовими тематичними групами сфери косметології, позначеними її термінологічними одиницями в англійській мові, є види і напрями косметології, косметологічні та косметолого-дерматологічні проблеми, косметологічні про- цедури та методики лікування, засоби косметології, сфери застосування косметологічних процедур, фахівці, прибори лікування, організації сфери. Досліджувана термінологія англійської мови характеризується наявністю в ній мета- форичних термінів, творення яких здійснюється шляхом перенесення назви одного об’єкта, явища на інший за їх схожістю. Поява метафоричних термінів в мові науки та різних сферах професійного спілкування пояснюється універсальністю метафори, її діалогічністю та здат- ністю виступати ефективним засобом пізнання наукового світу, його понять і фрагментів за допомогою вже відомих одиниць. За сферами походження розрізняємо антропоморфні, при- родоморфні, соціоморфні, а також артефактні метафори англомовної термінології сфери косметології. The article is devoted to the study of English terminology of the sphere of cosmetology. Definitions of the notions of «term of the sphere of cosmetology», «terminology of the sphere of cosmetology» are given in the article, extralingual factors conditioning its emergence and development are also described in it. attention is paid to the analysis of thematic and metaphoric groups of English terminological units of the sphere in the article. The term of cosmetology is a lexical unit designating a professional notion of the sphere. Its terminology is a set of units used in special scientific or popular scientific literature and professional communication of its specialists. English terminology of the sphere of cosmetology is heterogeneous thematically and semantically. It is conditioned by the diversity of the sphere itself, existence of its different branches, categorical and conceptual differentiation of which is projected on its terminology. The development of the sphere and its terminology is also stipulated by scientific and technological progress of the mankind, processes of professional knowledge specialization. Thematic classification of the analyzed terms suggested in the article helps to group them according to those categorical notions of the sphere they designate. Key thematic groups of its terminology denote branches and types of cosmetology, cosmetic and cosmetic-dermatological problems, cosmetic procedures and methods of treatment, means of cosmetology, areas of application of cosmetic procedures, specialists of the sphere, treatment devices, organizations of the sphere. The peculiar feature of the analyzed terminology is its metaphoric units. They are viewed in the article as language units with specialized transferred meanings formed on the basis of similarity of objects, phenomena compared in them. The emergence of metaphorical terms in language of science is explained by universal character of the metaphor, its dialogicity and ability to be an effective medium of cognition of scientific notions. According to the spheres of their origin we differentiate groups of anthropomorphic, naturemorphic, sociomorphic, as well as artifact metaphors in the analyzed terminology. В статті надається визначення поняття «термінологія сфери електронного навчання», з’ясовується історія походження англомовного терміна на позначення сфери e-learning, ана- лізуються факти історії появи та розвитку вказаної сфери та її термінологічної лексики в англійській мові, а також визначаються її ключові тематичні групи. Термін e-learning, що використовується нині для позначення галузі електронного навчання, а також слугує родовим стосовно усіх її інших термінів в англійській мові, з’явився в ній як засіб номінації нового способу навчання, що застосовувався при підвищенні кваліфікації робітників окремих комерційних компаній у США. Згодом вказаний термін розширив своє зна- чення, з’явились також його синоніми, що зумовлено розвитком сфери та її термінології. Під термінологією електронного навчання розуміємо сукупність слів і словосполучень, що використовуються для позначення професійних понять цієї сфери. Розвиток сфери елек- тронного навчання та її термінології в англійській мові спричинений появою та поширен- ням інноваційних технологій, появою нових понять і необхідністю їх позначення, зручністю та доступністю нової форми навчання та іншими екстралінгвістичними факторами. Англомовна термінологія сфери електронного навчання є тематично різнорідною. Її оди- ниці, об’єднані в тематичні групи, слугують засобами номінації освітніх установ; принципів, методів і стратегій електронного навчання; видів навчальної та викладацької діяльності, особливостей організації та управління навчальною та викладацькою діяльністю; навчаль- ного контенту сфери, програм, курсів та дисциплін електронного навчання; його техноло- гій, програмного забезпечення, платформ. Вказані тематичні групи є ключовими, їх одиниці позначають поняття категоріального апарату сфери електронного навчання, віддзеркалю- ючи особливості його організації. Аналізована сфера постійно розвивається, що зумовлює появу нових термінологічних одиниць і можливість їх подальшого тематичного угрупування. The article is devoted to the study of English-language e-learning terminology. Definition of the notion of «terminology of the sphere of e-learning» is given, history of emergence of the term e-learning is analyzed, facts from history of development of the sphere and its terminology in the English language are considered, thematic groups of its units are characterized in the article. The term e-learning using to denote corresponding sphere in the English language appeared as a means of designation of new way of learning, carried out in some commercial companies of the USA with the aim of reeducating of their employees. The meaning of this term was enriched later; it became a generic term for all other terminological units of the sphere in the English language. Synonymic units of the term appeared later due to the processes of development of the sphere and its terminology. The abovementioned layer of lexicon is viewed in the article a set of words and word combinations designating professional notions of the sphere of e-learning. Its development is conditioned by expansion of innovative technologies and necessity of naming of new notions of the sphere, its availability and convenience as well as some other extralingual factors. The English-language terminology of the sphere of e-learning is thematically heterogeneous. Terminological units of thematic groups of the sphere designate its stakeholders; educational institutions; e-learning principles, methods and strategies; its instructional and learning events; e-learning administration and management; e-learning resources and content; curricula, courses, programs of e-learning; as well as tools, software, programs of the sphere. The abovementioned thematic groups are viewed as key ones in the article because their units designate notions of categorical apparatus of the sphere, revealing peculiarities of its organization at the same time. The analyzed sphere is constantly developing. That is why new notions and units of their designation appear in the sphere and its terminology. Therefore it can be subjected to further grouping on the basis of thematic principle.
