The article aims to analyze the formation of students' sociolinguistic competence, their ability to maintain a varied discourse, and their use of special styles of speech in different social environments and communication situations. An important area for research is the analysis of modern interactive and digital technologies used in educational institutions to improve the professional abilities of students. The article focuses on the theoretical aspects of sociolinguistic competence, sources of its origin, principles of formation, and aspects of its implementation in professional activity. The key principles of its development are outlined and the means that can be used to improve it are presented. The author suggests appropriate means for the formation of sociolinguistic competence in the context of the spread of actualization of the use of a foreign language both in the professional environment and in everyday life, which is due to globalization. The obtained results of the study can be used in the practice of educational institutions to improve the quality of sociolinguistic competence formation. It is stressed that competent and foreign language fluent professionals are currently in great need at the economic market of the country, especially in a border region, as cross-border cooperation has recently become an increasingly significant factor in creating a stimulating business environment. The EF English Proficiency Index of 2019 shows moderate proficiency level of Ukrainians, which constitutes a challenge for miscellaneous scientists to enhance the English proficiency level of all the graduates of Ukrainian higher educational establishments. У статті зосереджено увагу на важливості розвитку іншомовної компетентності як формування практичних навичок усного та письмового спілкування, слухання, розуміння та читання; а також вміння застосовувати ці навички для вирішення комунікативних завдань у професійних ситуаціях. Підкреслюється, що компетентні та володіючі іноземними мовами фахівці зараз дуже потрібні на економічному ринку країни, особливо в прикордонному регіоні, оскільки транскордонна співпраця останнім часом стає все більш значним фактором у створенні стимулюючого бізнес-середовища. Висвітлено методи та підходи до навчання, а також інноваційні технології, які сприяють успішній трансформації організації освітнього процесу. У статті їх умовно поділено на два напрямки: 1) залучення нових педагогічних технологій, які сприятимуть новим формам й методам викладання (навчання у співробітництві, проектний метод, ігрові технології, портфоліо студента, інтерактивні методи, технологія проблемного навчання); 2) застосування інтерактивних комп’ютерно-орієнтованих методів навчання за допомогою нових технічних засобів (застосування електронних підручників та посібників, інтерактивних програм, робота з електронними енциклопедіями та словниками, системами комп’ютерного перекладу і т.д.). The article analyzes the process of the traditional "subject - object" teaching model transformation, in which the teacher is the main factor in the educational process, into the "subject - subject" model, in which the teacher initiates the process and stimulates the alteration of students into active participants of communication. Methods and approaches to teaching, as well as innovative technologies that contribute to the successful transformation of the educational process are highlighted. In the article they are roughly divided into two spheres: 1) involvement of new pedagogical technologies that will promote new forms and methods of teaching (collaborative learning, project method, game technologies, student portfolio, interactive methods, problem-based learning technology); 2) application of interactive computer-based teaching methods with the help of new technical means (use of electronic textbooks and manuals, interactive programs, use of electronic encyclopedias and dictionaries, computer translation systems, etc.).
