Title: Фактуальність та документальний характер творів англійських письменників «Сердиті молоді люди» Authors: Гільдебрант, Катерина Йосипівна / Hildebrant, Kateryna Abstract: У статті розглядається відповідність стилю англійських письменників «сердиті молоді люди» критеріям вирізнення документальної літератури. Встановлюється фактуальність оповіді, мінімалізація тропів, уподібнення стилю письменників репортажу, об’єктивізація зображення шляхом амальгамації точки зору автора із думками і висновками протагоніста. The article deals with correlating the style of English writers, representatives of the literary group Angry Young Men, with the criteria of distinguishing documentary fiction as a literary genre that intentionally blurs the line between fact and fiction. Significant spread of documentary fiction begins with the mid-twentieth century, the time when Angry Young writers started their literary career. These writers’ narrative is saturated with post-war realities, true-to-life descriptions of British society, the authenticity of which has been proved by multiple scientists and critics’ reviews. Their novels and plays have been recognized as absolutely adequate depiction of British life of the 50s. Using the principle of objective narrative, Angry Young Men stick to simple documentary style that resembles a report and is marked with deliberate understatement of aesthetics and lack of ostentation, as they get rid of most tropes. Even in the dramatic genre AYM tend to approximate realistic talk. Theatrical language in their works is executed in the form of everyday discourse: it is full of gaps, repetitions, incoherence, silence, reinforcing the effect of life likelihood. Moreover, writers adhere to the principle of factuality through non-interference with the development of the plot, transforming consciousness of protagonists into means of expressing authors’ literary reflection. Because of such author’s detachment characters’ description is provided through the prism of protagonist’s worldview, while the hero himself, his thoughts and deeds are mostly described by other characters. In a word, Angry Young writers lead their reader without pressure and moralization hence achieving documentary effect which will be one of the most popular ways of expressing author’s viewpoint in the twentieth century prose.

Аналізуються спільності ідейно-естетичних позицій вказаних письменників, розглядається відповідність їх творів настроям молодіжної контркультури середини ХХ століття, висвітлюються розбіжності творчих пошуків літераторів. The article is devoted to the problem of typological affi nity of the artistic programs of English literary group Angry Young Men and the French writer Francoise Sagan. Semblance of the writers’ aesthetic positions is analyzed, their works correspondence with the youth countercultural moods of the mid-twentieth century is viewed, differences in their creative writing are revealed.

Literary genre of J. Wayne, K. Amis and J. Brain novels is estimated, specific characteristics of the writers’ literary works, which confirm their attachment to neorealism, are identified.У статті аналізується художній метод представників англійського літературного угруповання «сердиті молоді люди». Встановлюється жанр романів Дж. Вейна, К. Еміса та Дж. Брейна, вказуються характерні особливості творчості письменників, які доводять приналежність «сердитих молодих» до неореалізму.
